Travel Buddies: Bangkok Edition

Okay, it's a long weekend and I finally (finally, finally) found time to update my Bangkok entry.  *happy dance*

Creech ran out of prepaid load so she made friends with a woman who was sitting outside the airport.  She texted me where to find her using her new-found friend's mobile phone. #genius
P.S.  #PrayingForNewMujiLuggage

This was Jo's moment.
Chito: Pre, sama ka na (sa photo)
Jo: (immediately hands camera off to Paulo and skips/gallops/hops towards us).

Our flight was in the evening so after feeding ourselves with 7-eleven microwaveable meals, we slept.  We really had no concrete plans except for going to the temples and shopping for beauty products.  So, here's how it went down:

This is Kat before we left the hotel.  #LakasMakaDonyaCouch

This is Creech on our way to Madame Tussauds.

This is the subject of our favourite photo.  If you were tuned in on Facebook that time, you would know what am talking about.

Okay, here's couple pic 1.

Paulo has mastered the art of taking a groupie (group pic taken a la selfie).
A lot of our photos were taken with the exact same choreography.

I am sharing this because this was the ONLY un-groupie photo that we have.

A discovery has been made.
I think I'd make for a really good (or well-poised) royalty.
Bawal kumontra.

Okay, this is cool.
You're allowed to form a sign with your hand before dipping it into boiling hot wax.
(Don't worry, it doesn't hurt one bit!)
Once the wax dries and hardens, you have your personalized wax hand souvenir!
A certain person did not follow instructions and ended up with a stubby-fingered hand. #GuessWho

The next day, we planned on going to the Grand Palace.  Prior to the trip, we googled the weather forecast for Bangkok and saw that during our stay there, chances of rain was at 60%.

I would like to inform you that the forecast was a little too accurate.  Moving on...

It was sunny at the bus stop.

Bus never arrived (okay, "never" was an exaggeration but we got tired of waiting so we took the train instead).

#MaginooPeroMedyoModel

I hate small boats.  I hate murky rivers.  But this was how we wanted to get to the Grand Palace.

This was the last photo taken before the torrential rainfall.  Rio Grande Rapids ang peg, I kid you not.

We tried to wait the rain out, but it was almost 4 o'clock so we headed back downtown (as Jo predicted) to use our Ocean Park tickets instead.

I told you he mastered it.

It was fun, saw a lot of fish and um, other animals?

So on our last day, we made sure to wake up super early (cos we figured rain starts in the afternoon) and took another trip to the Grand Palace.  This time, we were successful.

Sorry for my big head.

There you go.

This is my favourite photo because it's GOLDEN.

I got this bag from Davao for Php 120.00.
I love it cos it's foldable and pretty.
I never found anything like it again. #ShoudHaveHoarded

All our couple photos were taken by Creech, who had free framing lessons from Paulo.

Bye bye, Bangkok!

After posting all these photos, am now craving for this.

Now for the top 3 tips when travelling to Bangkok:

1) Do not go to Bangkok if you want to unwind and stare into endless blue oceans, clear skies and bikini bodies.  Bangkok looks pretty much like Manila, with its own charm of course.
2) Thai people do not speak very good English so be ready with maps and vigorous hand gestures to get what you want and go where you want to go.
3) Go with your friends.  And eat.  And eat.  And eat.  Thai food wouldn't let you down.

3 Shades

Russian Red x Brave x Taupe

The Ultimate Throwback

Am sneaking in this post so I can consider my blog fully updated by the time I write about what is really going through my mind right now.

So, please prepare yourself for a photo dump of a year that was.

Hong Kong a.k.a the "Ang Binagyong Bakasyon Part 1"

This was my first Disney trip (and probably the last).
As you know, am not a fan of theme parks.  I chose this photo on purpose to show you that slippery, wet theme parks are no fun either.

This was where I first encountered these weird items of food preparation sorcery...

Leading me to the best tonkatsu I've ever had in my life.
#missingTonkichi

I think this was pork asado (or something) that Paulo really loved.
This was from a restaurant a few blocks from our hotel.  Wish I could remember where it was exactly.

Palawan a.k.a. "Ang Binagyong Bakasyon Part 2"
Folks, never plan outdoorsy vacations during off-peak seasons.  There's a reason why they're off-peak.

And then we had to wear plastic raincoat to protect us from the rain all throughout the trip.
No good photos either.

Singapore Part 1 a.k.a. "Walang Katapusang Lakaran"

Nice angle, Emong.

I miss my taong grasa hair.

Singapore Part 2 a.k.a. "Steady Weekend"

Under the moonlight.

Authentic chill crab for the win!

This is Julia.  I love her.

Tagaytay a.k.a. R&R

Chillax.

Tawilis + Bulalo + Steaming Rice + Coke (not in photo)
#drool

Super edit. Haha.

Singapore 3 a.k.a. Hell Week

I like airplane food.

Din Tai Fung for the best-est xiao long bao

Singapore war machines in Orchard.

F4 weekend!

Okay. That's it for now. Bye!

Thoughts That Come After 1 AM

I've been in blog limbo for the longest time.  This second sentence took me 14 minutes to type down because I am having a very (very, very) difficult time churning words out of my half-dead brain.  This third sentence is mocking its predecessor by trying to sound more witty.  And fails.

Meanwhile, super typhoon Yolanda devastates the central part of the Philippines.

A mockery of our justice system is in full swing, in live telecast.  The government sometimes reminds me of a travelling circus with clowns and hideous freaks.

Work sucks as usual.  My taxes still get deducted religiously, without fail from my pay check.

There is something seriously wrong with this system.

My close friend once told me that I should start with the man (or woman) in the mirror and ask him (or her) to change his (or her) ways.   Yes, Michael Jackson was a close friend of mine (BFF levels).  God rest his soul.

But I, too am just as lost as everyone else.

Blogger Blues

It's damp and wet outside and am cuddled underneath my sheets.  Instead of a book, or my sketchpad, or a movie lulling me to sleep, I find myself writing again.

My only source of light is the glare of my new *ehem* laptop (the story of which, I will tell you in the next few posts).  The only sounds I hear are the gentle clickity-clack of my fingers against the keyboard.  There's approximately 2 hours of life left on the battery and am amazed that my wifi connection is holding up pretty well.

In a few minutes, I will start thinking of how to skip work tomorrow.

Starting right about...NOW.
